This is Canada's Arctic like you've never seen it before.
Getty photographer Mario Tama joined NASA researchers at the end of March to capture their work on Canada and Greenland's Arctic landscapes — from the air. The photos were part of Operation IceBridge, the organization's six-year mission to survey the planet's polar ice and study the impact of climate change.
Just weeks earlier, NASA announced Arctic sea ice had reached its lowest extent ever recorded since the agency began measuring it in 1979.
