These Celebs With Autism Prove Everyone Can Find Success

Inspiring.

People who are on the autism spectrum are often misunderstood. While the common belief is that those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) aren’t smart or can’t have successful relationships, this couldn’t be more wrong.

In Hollywood, there are a handful of celebrities who are on the spectrum and have found success. Director Tim Burton is one example.

In 2005, Burton’s former long-time partner Helena Bonham Carter revealed that the “Frankenweenie” director showed symptoms of Asperger syndrome, which is a type of autism.

While the 50-year-old actress was doing research for the TV movie “Magnificent 7” — in which she plays a mother of children with autism — she realized Burton “actually has a bit off Asperger's in him.”

“We were watching a documentary about autism and he said that’s how he felt as a child,” the actress explained. “Autistic people have application and dedication. You can say something to Tim when he’s working and he doesn’t hear you. But that quality also makes him a fantastic father, he has an amazing sense of humour and imagination. He sees things other people don’t see.”

Celebrities are living proof that everyone can find success. Watch the video above to see which other famous figures are on the autism spectrum and have made a name for themselves.
