Central Alberta woman to be sentenced for child porn involving four-year-old son

RED DEER, Alta. — A central Alberta woman is to be sentenced next month on child pornography charges involving her four-year-old son.

The 43-year-old woman from Red Deer cannot be named to protect the identity of the boy.

She has pleaded guilty to sexual assault, making child pornography and distributing child pornography.

An investigation was launched about a year ago after police in Idaho found explicit photos of the boy that had been mailed to a man.

Investigators believe the man was arranging to visit Red Deer at some point.

The woman was arrested last June 1 at a licensed daycare where she worked, although authorities say they not believe the facility or any other children were involved.

She is to be sentenced in Red Deer provincial court on May 25.

A 44-year-old Red Deer woman is to be in court next month for sentencing after she admitted to using her own son to make child pornography.

The woman, who can't be named to protect the identity of the boy, has pleaded guilty to sexual assault, making child pornography and distributing child pornography.

She was arrested last June after authorities in the United States found a 40-year-old man in Idaho with dozens of videos and hundreds of photos of child pornography.

They were able to identify the Red Deer woman's son in some of the images.

The woman had worked at a city daycare, but police say there is no evidence that any children other than her son were abused.  (CBC)
