NewsAlert: Trump tells Canada, Mexico he won't terminate NAFTA

WASHINGTON — The White House says U.S President Donald Trump has told both Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexico's president that he has agreed not to terminate the North American Free Trade Agreement at this time.

The announcement was made late Wednesday in a read-out of calls between the world leaders.

The White House says the Canadian and Mexican leaders have "agreed to proceed swiftly, according to their required internal procedures, to enable the renegotiation" of the trade deal to "the benefit of all three countries."

More to come.
