Highway 1 is completely closed to westbound traffic near Langley, B.C., following a collision involving five large vehicles.
Police say four people have been taken to hospital with minor injuries after a van, a commercial truck and three equipment-laden semi-trucks collided.
Drive B.C. is advising motorists to expect heavy delays throughout the afternoon.
The crash happened around 9:30 a.m. near 245th Street in Langley.
Police say there was a second crash nearby about a half hour later that may have been connected to the earlier crash. The later crash involved two cars and sent four people to hospital with minor injuries.
Police say neither speed nor alcohol are believed to have been factors in the crashes.
The highway is still open to eastbound traffic. Drive B.C. expects the highway to reopen sometime between 3 and 6 p.m.
