Former southern Manitoba mayor loses byelection bid to regain former job

ST. ADOLPHE, Man. — A southern Manitoba municipality has a new mayor and council following the former mayor's resignation over allegations of bullying by two of her council colleagues.

Jackie Hunt stepped down from the Rural Municipality of Ritchot this past April.

At the time she said two councillors had verbally attacked her over construction of a hockey rink in the town of St. Adolphe.

Two other councillors also resigned, which forced the province to dissolve the council and call Wednesday's byelection.

Hunt ran for mayor again but lost by 92 votes to challenger Chris Ewen.

The two councillors who were alleged to have bullied Hunt also ran again but were defeated. (CTV Winnipeg)
