Police nab suspect in two attempted child abductions in Prince George, B.C.

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — Police say a man has been arrested for allegedly trying to abduct two children in Prince George, B.C.

RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass says officers were called to a playground on Tuesday for a report of a disturbance and arrived to find a man and a woman fighting.

Douglass says officers determined the man had been trying to abduct a child from the playground when the woman intervened, and the man was arrested after running from police.

RCMP later received a report about another attempted abduction a few blocks away, where a man grabbed a young boy who was with his mother.

Douglass says the woman managed to get her child back and fled to her home and that the man police had in custody fit the suspect description.

RCMP say a 35-year-old man from Fort St. James, B.C., is being held in custody and is expected to be charged with several offences.
