Woman beaten in Edson, Alta.; RCMP seeking 1 or 2 suspects

EDSON, Alta. — RCMP in Edson, Alta., are seeking help from the public to find one or possibly two suspects who attacked a woman and left her unconscious early Thursday.

Police say the woman was jumped from behind when she went out to her vehicle on 52nd Street between 12:30 a.m. and 2 a.m.

The woman was dragged a short distance to a secluded spot where the attack continued until she was left unconscious.

Edson RCMP say the victim was treated in hospital for minor injuries and released Friday morning.

The motive for the assault is unknown.

The woman's name and age were not released. 

"We are hopeful that someone may have witnessed activity in the area that may provide another clue in identifying those responsible for this attack.” said Const. Chad Hollinger in a release.
