EDMONTON — One woman has been taken to hospital and another woman was assessed on the scene after an explosion in downtown Edmonton.
A spokesman says Emergency Medical Services responded to the explosion at 97 Avenue and 106 Street that reportedly popped off manhole covers.
Alex Campbell says two seniors were assessed and one was transported to hospital in stable condition.
One of the women is reported to have fallen down one of the manholes.
Campbell says the fire department had to do a high-angle rescue to get to the woman.
No one from the fire department was immediately available for comment.
Utilities provider Epcor says the explosion also knocked out power to about 25 customers in the area.
