EDMONTON — Bars and restaurants will be able to stay open late and start early if the Canadian Olympic hockey teams play in the bronze medal games.
The Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission says there will be a blanket, provincewide extension of serving hours for those games.
But businesses will have to apply for a licence.
The women's bronze-medal game is scheduled for Feb. 21 at 12:40 a.m. MT and bars will be allowed to serve liquor for an hour after it is over.
The men's game is Feb. 24 at 5:10 a.m. MT, so bars can start pouring drinks early.
The gold-medal games take place during regular hours, so an extension isn't needed. (CTV Edmonton)
