Whatever the reason, more than 500 people were willing to stand for hours in below-freezing temperatures in Vancouver last week for a chance to meet James Franco, and I was one of them.
In the seven years since she started learning the ropes as a cadet journalist in an outback mining town, Alicia Bridges has shared her time between music writing in the city and news reporting in some of Australia’s far-flung places. Earlier this year she moved to Vancouver, Canada, where the mountain views take her breath away and the rain is still a novelty. From searching the wilderness for the chance to see an elusive bird, to freezing in the street to meet James Franco, she follows her wayward curiosity wherever it leads her.
