Brooks DeCillia is a PhD candidate at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and currently lives in London. He is researching how the government and military framed the media messages surrounding Canada’s military mission in Afghanistan.

Brooks worked for 15 years at the CBC as a national reporter and producer. He covered stories in south Asia, Europe and across North America. He was embedded with Canadian forces Kandahar in Afghanistan in 2006 and 2007. He enjoys skiing, photography and travel.

United Kingdom, I'm Just Not That Into You Anymore

Last Thursday changed the way many of us foreigners here feel about the U.K. It doesn't feel like home here anymore.It's definitely not the same warm and welcoming place I came to so many years ago. And even more perplexing -- and wounding -- I am questioning if I really ever knew this place I love and idealize.

Danielle Smith Is Stubbornly Ideological But Just Not That Loyal

Not so long ago, Smith vilified the Progressive Party, branding it as tired, washed up, and spiralling out of control. Alberta faced certain disaster if Progressive Conservatives continued their uninterrupted reign. Smith was fervent. Committed. She would burn down the village to save it.
