For me, choosing a vegan diet for my son was a fairly simple decision. All parents want the best for their children, and I believe that the best choice for both him and me is a balanced, plant-based diet. For me, becoming vegetarian has been a slow journey of personal discovery and growth. But turkey dinner at Christmas and at Thanksgiving was one of the final carnivorous traditions I held on to -- I could avoid meat all year it seemed, but on these particular holidays I gave in and celebrated "turkey day." This year I plan to try something new and start my own tradition.

To state that yoga is dangerous because of the risks of the physical poses is only addressing one area of the practice. Yoga is so much more than asana or physical poses. Much of yoga is about letting go of ego and self-judgment. Yoga teaches us to be OK with wherever our practice finds us in that moment.

My doctor told me told me to enjoy every moment of my pregnancy and I wondered silently how I was supposed to enjoy the lingering nausea and epic exhaustion. After about a week of teaching and practising yoga, I noticed a huge difference. I felt fit, I felt strong, and I felt happy.
