Cherno Jobatey is the Editorial Director of Huffington Post Germany. After studying at universities in Berlin and Los Angeles he started his career at Berlin’s alternative newspaper taz. He later worked for leading German newspapers such as Tagesspiegel and Bild as well as for national weekly magazines such as Spiegel, Zeit, Cosmopolitan and German Business Week. He also worked as a freelance reporter for BBC’s Radio 4. Jobatey hosted Germany’s leading morning news show at one of Germany’s top national broadcasters, ZDF for 20 years. Now, when he’s not working for HuffPost Germany, he lectures at universities and spends a lot of time on different stages in front of and behind the camera.

I Stood Up Against Anti-Semitism in Berlin

A large demonstration against anti-Semitism was held here in Berlin. The President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Dieter Graumann, called for action, and a broad coalition from state and society responded, gathering at the Brandenburg Gate. In the days following the demonstration, I was asked the question, "Why?" Here is my answer.
