George is a faculty member at <a href="" rel="nofollow">Simon Fraser University</a> in the Department of Chemistry and also serves as Associate Dean of Graduate Studies, where he helps oversee the training experiences for over 4,500 students in the graduate program. <br> <br> Through his work creating integrated, technology-based curriculums for <a href="" rel="nofollow">impossible2Possible</a> and students in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, George is helping create opportunities for students worldwide to explore stark global realities in real time. <br> <br> Beyond his passion for alpine skiing, windsurfing, and cycling up Burnaby Mountain to SFU every day, George can also be found coaching one or more of the hockey and lacrosse teams that his boys play on.

But nothing prepared me for the ultimate educational experiment &#8212; watching seven youth each run 180 kilometres across Botswana's Kalahari Desert to better understand the value of something we take for granted here in the Pacific Northwest: water.
