Drama teacher, candidate coach, playwright, workshop leader
Politics is theatre on a grand scale. People go to the theatre neither to watch the actors nor to listen to them. They want to be transported into the world of the play: to suspend disbelief. The politician who can evoke an emotional response is the politician we will inevitably favour.
This week my play Delimax -- about a Holocaust survivor and a Quebec separatist trapped in a Jewish delicatessen during a Montreal ice storm -- completes a 32-year journey from near suffocation in the bottom drawer of my ancient desk to a Toronto stage.

Trudeau's team responded poorly to the attack ads by pointing out he also taught math, rather than challenging the implication that there's little of value in the teaching of drama. I coached drama and taught the subject for more than 30 years. I am extremely proud of what I was able to accomplish for my students.
