Originally from London, Ont., Hilary Caldwell grew up in White Rock, B.C., where she began to swim competitively. Caldwell finished second to Sinead Russell at the Olympic Trials in Montreal, earning a spot on Canada’s team heading to the 2012 Games. At the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games, Caldwell earned herself a gold medal in the 200-m backstroke. Her six tattoos make her the most inked member of the national swim team.
When I made my first Olympic team in 2012, it really was a dream come true. Since competing in London, I've been on the podium at World Championships and Commonwealth Games, I've become a Pan American champion and I'm a Canadian record holder several times over. Throughout all my successes and failures along the way, I've had an amazing team of people behind me.
