As they've been trending, fidget spinners have frequently made the news, and not in a good way.
A new television series based on the Anne of Green Gables books debuted on the CBC in Canada in March and began streaming on Netflix in mid-May. Regardless of when you started watching it, I'm quite sure you have a passionate - nay, fiery - opinion about this new Anne girl.

It's well known that the Stampede is synonymous with rodeo, cowboys, and a celebration of Western Canadian culture. But besides the rodeo and chuckwagon events, there are also a huge midway, live music shows, and cultural and festival events. The festivities spill across the entire city, so if you're in Calgary for more than a day or two, make sure to check for events off-site too.

Services like HealthLine only offer advice, and often require patients to seek in-person care. Telemedicine is different, directly connecting patients and licensed health care providers online. Telemedicine -- also known as eHealth, telehealth, or virtual medicine -- aims to cut down on in-person visits, making medical care more efficient for both patients and healthcare providers.

Earlier this week, I received an email that offered me the chance to attend one of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's town halls. I am hard of hearing. I rely on lipreading. Normally, I shy away from any kind of talk or presentation. But the opportunity to see a sitting prime minister in person, and potentially ask him a question, spurred me to find out more.

When the weather keeps me cooped up indoors, I like doing creative projects that keep me busy and beautify my space at the same time. One project that's been languishing since last summer is refinishing an old cabinet. I have a big soft spot for anything retro or vintage. Because I love the inherent history in old items, I rarely refinish them. The scratches, the dents, and the chips are all part of their stories. But upcycling old furniture is quite trendy now, and I've seen so many beautiful ideas. I wanted to try it.

My own hair is short and curly. I haven't had hair past my shoulders for about 20 years. The idea of having Disney princess hair was enchanting but I knew little about the process. How exactly are the extensions attached? How long does it take? How much does it cost? How long do extensions last? Time to do my research!

While there may be rescued pets that fit seamlessly into their new families, every rescue I've loved has had issues. Romeo, Gabe, and Annie had aggression issues. Archie had house training, fear, and anxiety issues. None of these guys had any leash manners. Buddy wore a belly band 24/7 because he was incontinent. And you know what? I couldn't have loved any of them any more than I did.

There are so many options out there, and many of them are economical choices. If you're just after a warm, sandy beach, then sure, go for the budget choice. But what if you've always dreamed of visiting some place that isn't known for being economical, like Australia? Should you throw caution to the wind and just go? Yes. GO.

It hurts my heart when people surrender their dogs -- or worse, euthanize them -- simply because they are old. This time, instead of just being angry and sad, I decided to step up. I met Buddy in a Tim Horton's parking lot on New Year's Day. I was taken aback by how thin and frail he was.

Having a disability in Canada can be expensive. All of these examples were mined from friends who have good jobs or other sustained sources of income. But what happens if you can't work because of your disability, and you need to rely on government income assistance programs?

I think a lot of us dream about earning money by doing what we love. Semi-retirement is the perfect time to do this, since have more time and freedom, and any income earned is (very hopefully) supplementary.

Small-town living is a nice compromise between farm and "big" city life, and has a lot of perks. You have a better view of the Milky Way, less traffic, and lower crime rates than in the city, but you also have a community of people watching out for you and lending a hand when you need one.

I started thinking about all the lessons I've learned from being overweight and dieting for much of my 45 years. I did a little research. I came up with a plan. I lost 51 pounds by January 2016, and my weight has hovered (mostly) between 52-54 pounds lost since. This is how I did it.

I did not get to usher my parents into old age, or really even into retirement living. My grandparents had all passed away by the time I was 19 years old. I have no direct experience caring for elderly people. As a result, I'm not sure what I can expect my own day-to-day life to look like when I am "old."

Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I'm 45 years old. I'm single. I've never been in a committed relationship. I don't have kids. My parents both died when I was in my mid-30s. I've been estranged from my oldest sister for about 20 years. I have profound hearing loss, due to deformed cochleas, and I identify as "hard of hearing."

Last fall, a guy came knocking on my door. He had purchased the derelict house next door and wondered if I would sell my not-so-derelict house as well. I would be lying if I said I wasn't tempted. The housing market in Saskatoon isn't strong. A friend has had her house on the market for four months and hasn't had a single offer.

Each aurora display is unique: their intensity, the colours, the duration, and how the lights shift and dance will vary every time. I've seen the auroras mostly as sinuous green shapes. But they might appear as horizontal bands, or as vertical spikes; and depending on your own eyes and where you are in the world, you might see any colours of the rainbow. The show might last anywhere from a few minutes to pretty much all night.

As a person with a disability, I consider technology an incredible gift. It has opened up the world to me. Like Hugh Herr, the biophysicist who specializes in robotics, says, "Remove technology and I am imprisoned. All I can do is crawl. But with it I am free." Free.

I had heard previously about the law of attraction, but this was the first time I read a book about it. It stresses that the universe is bountiful, and to tap into that abundance all you need to do is ask. I decided to test this theory .
