Jessica Zapata

Fitness Professional who sometimes hates the fitness industry. Juggles fitness, family and business. Creator of fitilates (

Jessica Zapata has been involved in the health and fitness industry for almost two decades. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Alberta and holds certifications in Pilates, personal training, strength and conditioning, group fitness and indoor cycling.

Thanks to her no-nonsense approach and occasional lack of filter, Jessica’s clients know she is able to coach them to results by cutting through excuses. She has impacted hundreds of lives, helping people to become healthier and more fit , working with everyone from high-performance athletes to career-driven professionals to students to stay-at-home moms along the way. One particular career highlight was working with performers in Cirque du Soleil’s Amaluna cast.

Jessica is co-owner of Infinite Fitness, a boutique fitness studio in Edmonton, AB that she founded with her husband Tristan in 2007. She is also the creator of both fitilates (an unequalled training method that fuses fitness, Pilates and performance) and CycleFit (an indoor cycling certification, independent of bike brand, that teaches instructors how to create high-energy spin classes that are safe, effective and fun). She is a frequently invited speaker at international health and fitness conferences, and has certified fitness instructors across the nation.

Ultimately, Jessica is driven by her passion for her family. As the busy mom of four boys, born less than four years apart, she understands the insanity of everyday life and the obstacles it throws in our paths. But she’ll tell you that obstacles provide opportunity (they don’t justify excuses), and she won’t let you get away with putting yourself last!

Focus On Fitness, Not Fatness

Have you ever noticed that people who are active or play sports always seem to be able to do more things -- they just appear to enjoy life more than their sedentary, unfit counterparts. They are able to move their body with more ease and generally have no problem carrying out normal activities of daily living.

Malnourished Kids Don't Always Look The Way You Think

Obesity is one of the leading causes of heart disease and metabolic syndromes. It leads to a deterioration in the quality of our life and often the length, too.
