Freelance writer and editor
John Blackwell is a freelance writer and editor.
He is a graduate of Huron University College at Western University, Queen’s University, and Dalhousie University. He recently retired as the founding director of the Research Grants Office at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. He also worked as an academic librarian in Canada and the US, and was active in the Canadian Library Association and the Association of College & Research Libraries (a division of the American Library Association). He was the first Canadian chair of the editorial board of Choice: Current Reviews for Academic Libraries, and also served on the board of the Canadian Association of Research Administrators. He has contributed to The Globe and Mail and National Post, as well as a wide variety of academic publications.
