John-Angus MacDonald is the lead guitarist and co-founder of Canadian Rock band, The Trews. Celebrating their 10 year anniversary, the band released their fifth self-titled studio album earlier this year and are currently on a major nationwide fall / winter tour dubbed 'Rise in the Wake'. Over the course of their career, they have had 15 Top 10 singles on Rock radio, hitting #1 with "Not Ready to Go," (the Most Played song of 2004 on Rock Radio) and "Yearning" from their 2005 sophomore album, Den Of Thieves. With two Gold Certified albums under their belt, they have cemented themselves as one of the country's most distinguished Canadian Rock bands. The Trews have won multiple East Coast Music Awards, the 2009 Annual Independent Music Award in the US for Best Rock / Metal Song, received numerous JUNO Award nominations and played well over 1,000 shows worldwide, both on their own and supporting legendary acts including Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, KISS, Robert Plant, Guns 'n Roses, Kid Rock and Bruce Springsteen.

How I Balance Rock 'N' Roll and Parenthood

Being away from home for so long is by far the trickiest part of balancing my new reality. I try to be "on call" 24 hours a day, should my wife Jenny need me. However, at the end of the day, being "on call" is really just a phone call. In order to try and combat this difficult situation, we came up with a game plan and set some ground rules in place.
