This week is #MensHealthWeek, you'll see it around the social media scene a lot. The idea being that it all culminates on Father's day with men getting motivated to do small things to take care of their health. Your health matters, not your weight. Your activity level matters, not the gym.

People forgot how to have fun. My mission is to make this Nation healthier One Fit City at a time. Add a little fun to functional training, and introduce regular people to sport specific training and we have a recipe for success. Done smart, and over time, we can turn this nation into aspiring athletes(or at least healthier arm chair quarterbacks). A degree in Kinesology and Applied Health and work with everything from Couch Potatoes Pro Athletes over the past decade is my key to battling Obesity and Inactivity.
Men, it is our week to wake up! We are unhealthy, we have been denying it, and putting it off. Now is the time to stop, take notice, and make changes. There was a study commissioned by the Canadian Men's Health Foundation to understand the economic impact of poor health choices among Canadian men. If these numbers do not fill you with a deep desire to make some changes, I do not know what will.

What we see on magazine covers, the workouts that invade our T.V.'s and the push for us to "lose weight and get a six pack," and the diets that confuse and overwhelm us are NOT what it takes to simply be healthy.

The world has been overrun by marketing. It's a little disturbing to me, especially in the health realm. Quick fixes are promised everywhere, and with seemingly no need to bring the truth. Here is a list of four things that if you get and use as directed, I promise they will change your life.

If you are looking to have the healthiest summer of your life there are three things I want you to try. Each one is supported by social media.

Workplace wellness is the battle ground for the downward spiral of health in our nation. If employers want their employees present and contributing, they need to take a proactive step to open lines of communication. If you reading this want to change your health, your life, and be full of energy it will take finding a workplace that allows small changes.

Beach season is around the corner, summer is here and it's the time we all get to enjoy beautiful weather and fun outside. Let that motivate you, but let it motivate you to make small sustainable changes. No extreme bootcamps to quickly shed weight because you are embarrassed.

When did we get twisted around so badly as a culture? When did our appearance become more important than enjoying life and being healthy? There are very few things that I want to change about the world I live in. The way we treat our bodies, and how little value we have on health is one of the things I most want to see change.

I strongly feel that political correctness has become the problem. We say it right in public, then get it twisted behind closed doors. Our youth need to see us with a consistent message of kindness, understanding and compassion. That doesn't mean we let people abuse or take advantage of us. It means that none of us judge, insult, or belittle another person for any reason ever.

If you google it, most restaurants take anywhere from 145 seconds-180 seconds to make your food. That's you telling the big board your order and it getting cooked. So it's 2 minutes and 30 seconds from the time you say "burger and fries please" till the time you have food in your hands.

Toast and coffee isn't going to cut it. You need food. Real, simple, easy to make food. I've been showing off my culinary skills for years on youtube. Fun fact- I don't really have any, so I keep things super simple. If you watch the videos, I promise you can follow them and make exactly what I do.

One billion chicken wings, which means 500 million chickens will be killed for us to enjoy the game. Pounds of potato chips consumed; 28 million. Pounds of avocados consumed; 53.5 million. Number of football fields worth of farmland to grow all that corn, potatoes, and avocados is 222,792. And last 325.5 million is the number of gallons of beer drank by Americans that day.

Fun fact: At this point most people are already quitting on their New Year's resolutions. It is more often than not because they have tried to do too much. If health is your mission, focus on these points. 1) Get portion sizes under control -- We simply eat way more than we need.

In the last 30 years we began to idolize body types of people who like going to the gym. We made it the ideal. We made it something that we feel shame for not having. The gym is a great addition to your life if you love it, however, it's not the only option you have for being healthy.

Right now in the UFC, their light heavy weight champion Jon Jones, tested positive pre-fight to having metabolites of cocaine in his system. Jon Jones is heading to rehab. There is talk that he should lose his belt, he should face fines, and he should be punished in some way for this. There are even stories and news feeds suggesting it's a PR stunt. This is where I have a major problem.

Think of your body as a city. What if a city runs out of power? Then we have a crisis. On a regular basis, the food we put in our body needs to be nutrient dense. We need to be sure that every operation and system in the body has the necessary basics they need to survive. Then we can enjoy the food that kills us in peace. It's the balance that's important.

If you make a resolution in the typical style, you'll fail. If 2015 truly is the year you want to be healthy, make it a lifestyle.

My girlfriend likes safety, security and endless amounts of back rubs. I bring her flowers just because, and write notes about my feelings. The feelings are there, I love her immensely, I just feel it's so unnecessary to verbalize it daily. Words don't matter, actions do.

Ideally, this world would be full of health nuts who only ate perfectly healthy menus. We wouldn't touch pop, or food that was full of preservatives. However, there is a satisfaction from unhealthy food that is undeniable. My only request is that you find balance.
