Ex-political staffer. President, Planned Parenthood Ottawa. Director of Campaigns. Feminist. Mama. The one with the British accent
I’m a deeply political person, and started my career working in Westminster in the UK. I moved to Canada in 2006, where I managed the offices of several Members of Parliament. I was particularly privileged to work for Jack Layton in the years leading up to the 2011 federal election, coordinating legislation and Parliamentary strategy. After leaving Parliament, I worked in the domestic health sphere, for a national charity. I'm now Director of Campaigns for an international development NGO. In my volunteer life, I'm President of Planned Parenthood Ottawa, as well as a peer counsellor at the organisation. I'm a fierce feminist, a proud mama and decidedly very British.
You've heard of the recent attacks on women's healthcare in the States, but in Canada, we're feeling the impact too. For 50 years, Planned Parenthood Ottawa has been there for our community, providing unbiased counselling, education, advice and support. But it's become increasingly hard to do our work. Planned Parenthood is under attack, by people who oppose healthcare for women and the trans community, who don't want youth to get the education they need, and who dedicate themselves to cutting our funding every way they can.
