The North American sleep industry is being turned on its head. Traditional brick-and-mortar coil mattress bed stores now compete with a growing online mattress trend driven by sleepers who research their buying decisions and make purchases based on social media and online reviews, and not by awkward 15-second lie-downs on bare mattresses in public.

True self-expression must have freedom without gendered boundaries. To allow men true freedom, freedom of their senses, we must loosen the knots of gender expression through clothing and fabric and allow men to be who they naturally are.

That men have higher rates of addiction than women do is not surprising, as men's social and emotional experience is rooted in what could be regarded as an abusive system which gives men only one emotional outlet (anger) and social expectations to uphold a masculine tradition that serves only the antiquated system that created it.

In the spring and summer, people are happier and spend more time outside, not only for the warm weather, but I believe, for the light. For me, there is nothing more energizing and uplifting than sunlight. When bright light enters our eyes, serotonin production is increased, and this makes us feel happy and alert.

People who sweat normally may experience the discomfort of sweat trickling down the back on a hot summer day, but imagine how debilitating hyperhidrosis could be with your entire body continuously wet and sweating, and having to interact with others.

Hearing loss, also known as permanent threshold shift, is "a sudden or gradual permanent shift in the auditory threshold caused by noise exposure, age, disease, or drugs (e.g. did you know that the chemicals in cigarettes are actually linked to hearing loss?). When you think of St. Patrick, the man who brought Christianity to Ireland, what do you see? A man with a white beard in green clerical robes, wearing a mitre, carrying a crook? This is the commonly recognized version of the saint but it turns out that much of his costume has been appropriated from different time periods and is not necessarily true to the period in which St. Patrick lived.

From February 20 to 26, I volunteered for the fourth season of Toronto Men's Fashion Week (TOM*) and helped out on the model relations team. It was as intense as it was incredible, and the seven days spun before my eyes like a top.

It was one of those moments when I proclaimed, "I'll never eat again!" For me, it was just that one meal, but for others, this may have happened daily for a couple of weeks, so you may not feel your best right now. The time has come to clean out your system and renew your energy.

"Men confuse "nice" with "weak" and this is the problem," says First Gentleman, Zacchary Falconer-Barfield. "Being nice is being polite and respectful; someone willing to compromise. Being weak is lacking in self-confidence, but this is a temporary state of being, and it's all in your head."

I know extreme winter weather because I'm from Saskatchewan. Smart prairie drivers keep an emergency kit in the trunk of their car for winter driving because they know that if anything goes wrong out on a desolate highway, they could easily perish in the cold if they don't have proper supplies.

Some people inject food poison bacteria into their face; we do chemical peels that make our skin burn and we continue to invest in commercial creams and lotions that claim to reverse aging. I'm certainly not going to judge anyone for wanting to retain their youth, but I believe there have to be better options like natural, effective, cruelty-free alternatives to costly and possibly dodgy chemical concoctions.

It's a sad state of affairs -- we're choking on pollution and waste but we don't have to. Humans require transportation but our addiction to combustion engines and fossil fuels is a large part of our downfall. The solution to our needs and care of the planet lies in efficiency.

Embittered by their experiences with rejection, a few men have made businesses out of their hate-on for women and encourage other men to channel their anger and treat women as non-humans; commodities to be consumed -- but without taking stock in themselves. Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disruption that stops people from breathing at night and thus prevents a restful night of sleep. It is a condition much more serious than chronic fatigue and daytime sleepiness--sleep apnea can actually kill.

How many of you are aware of what you do when you sleep? Do your partners tell you that you snore or stop breathing?
