Food Writer, Traveller

Born in Prince George, B.C., Lindsay Anderson’s fascination with all things food-related began at an early age. Armed with a BA in Art History from the University of Victoria, Lindsay channeled her childhood love of cooking into jobs as varied as flipping burgers, catering on film sets, cooking at a rural tree-planter camp and even cheese-mongering.

In 2010, Lindsay arrived in Pollenzo, Italy to begin her Masters degree in Food Culture and Communications at the University of Gastronomic Sciences. With 25 other classmates from 16 different countries, she studied food from every possible academic perspective and began seriously pursuing a career as a food writer. During her year in Italy, Lindsay worked on several organic farms with tasks as varied as herding goats, making cheese, helping with olive harvest, planting grape vines and tending to vegetable gardens. She also fed her fondness for food by writing a personal food blog,

Besides the edible, her other great love is exploring new places; she’s travelled extensively around Europe and southern Africa. She’s an avid hiker and photographer, and believes there are few things as satisfying as food cooked over a campfire and shared with friends.

What I Learned from a Year of Eating Out in Richmond

When I took on 365 consecutive days of eating in Richmond and writing about it, I learned things. Many things. First and foremost, I learned far more about Asian food than I could have possibly anticipated. This job gave me a foundation for Asian cuisine that otherwise would have taken me years to establish, and I'm grateful for such a remarkable culinary education. I was exposed to so many new ingredients and dishes, and am now pretty darn capable with a pair of chopsticks. Importantly, I also learned I have SO MUCH MORE to learn about Asian food.

Top 10 Things To Eat In Richmond, B.C.

A little over six months ago, I began a one-of-a-kind job: eating at 365 Richmond, B.C. restaurants in 365 days, and blogging about each and every one. I currently have 194 restaurants under (and expanding) my belt, and have consumed a number of foods I didn't previously know were edible. Of course, there's still plenty more to eat, see, and learn, but here are my top 10 favourite dishes so far.
