Over the years, many friends, neighbours and relatives have been diagnosed with cancer. Unfortunately, too many have lost their battles. I have two close girlfriends who are currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Very recently, two of my closest friends -- both young, health-conscious individuals -- fought valiantly but succumbed to the disease.
I was born and raised in Vancouver. After high school I enrolled in the Nuclear Medicine Technology Program at BCIT. After graduation, I worked as a Research Assistant at St. Paul's Hospital for a year. When the new BC Children's Hospital opened its doors in 1982 I began my career in Nuclear Medicine taking on the roles of student supervisor and Chief Technologist for the next 16 years. Since 1998 I have been a member of the BCIT Faculty where I teach both 1st and 2nd year students. I am married and have 2 children that are enrolled at UBC. I am an avid soccer fan and support the Vancouver Whitecaps, Manchester United and my kids' soccer teams! I have always enjoyed cycling and feel fortunate to be able to combine my love of the sport with the ability to raise funds for the Ride to Conquer Cancer.
