Madison is a Team Canada para-athlete. After contracting meningitis at three years old, she underwent below-the-knee double amputation on both legs and partial amputation on her fingers on her left hand. After finding her passion in track and field, she trained tirelessly to become a competitive athlete. Today, she is a role model for others with disabilities and shares her story about the importance of perseverance when overcoming challenges.
My journey has taken me to Team Canada with the hopes of securing a spot at the Paralympic Games in Rio. I hope that my story can enlighten others about the devastation that meningococcal disease can cause, and also show others going through similar situations that you can do anything once you set your mind to it.
