If you're eating a high-protein diet, you've probably encountered this statement: "That's too much protein. Aren't you worried about your kidneys?" If you're not, this unfortunate misconception may be exactly what's preventing you from embracing it.
Of all the nutrition and fitness misconceptions I hear, this is the front-runner for most ridiculous: <em>"I need carbohydrates for energy."</em> Unlike protein and fat, carbohydrates supply none of the elements necessary to build or repair tissue in the body, and provide no essential component.

Those following the government guidelines are eating upwards of 150g of glucose before noon. This is far too much for a healthy active individual to be consuming, let alone someone carrying excess fat, bordering insulin resistance, and living a sedentary lifestyle (i.e. 3/4 of the population).
