It is my hope that the gift of giving back is something we're going to see a lot of this holiday season. From sponsoring an immigrant family escaping a war-torn nation to lending a helping hand at a local soup kitchen, there's always a way to give back.
A friend and I made a pact to delete the social apps off our devices and not personally post anything, or look at anyone else's posts, for one week. I love social media -- but going off it gave me a fresh perspective.

Our personal brand evolves with us. This is why it's important to continually check in and re-evaluate how we define it. For me, I know I need to take stock again when my gut instinct tells me I am growing and changing. Lately, I have found myself feeling a bit antsy, and I thought revisiting my Five I AMs might help reset my priorities.

I believe we are in full control of our choices and that our actions, in response to what fate offers us, matter. We are here to learn lessons and the hard decisions we have to make are what helps us grow as humans. Our destiny is not something we can sit by and let happen to us.

As someone who runs a business in Toronto and in New York, I divide my time equally between both cities. I am constantly stretched for time. I want to be there for everyone, but if I am, then I'm literally running on overdrive. When you work a high stakes job, it's imperative to make time for yourself.

We don't need an official study to tell us that digital media affects our relationships, although there are many. When we're online 24/7, it's pretty clear that it's going to influence our offline lives too. Digital media is creating a huge disconnect between us that's not going away.

When we live our lives chasing expectations, we close ourselves off to opportunities. My life did not follow a specific order; everything that happened felt surprisingly unexpected and even scary at times, but it left me open to what the world had to offer.

Making a comeback is about reclaiming your authenticity. It's your chance to shine brighter than you did before, because you are embodying a better version of yourself -- the YOU you were meant to be. Sometimes those qualities get lost, sometimes they get buried and sometimes they just need to mature.

Entrepreneurs and business leaders believe in themselves. They trust their gut and act in accordance with what they know to be true. If you want to get ahead in your career, here are 10 things you can do to think like a boss that will help get you there faster.

As we go through life, we are often told to open ourselves up to opportunities, to not limit ourselves, to say "yes" to new experiences, to meeting new people and to stepping out of our comfort zone. People tell us that there's joy in abundance and that it's good to have it all. But there's power in saying "no."

Remember, you're not just sending information out into a void; you're sending it into a world where someone is going to receive it. When Patricia Arquette, John Legend and Julianne Moore took the stage on Sunday, they knew millions of people were watching. They showed us that we all have a voice and we can choose how we use it.

There's a great book (and movie) on how to tell if a guy isn't into you, but how do you know if he IS? Are there specific signs we should be looking for or particular actions that hint at what's really going on? Sometimes it's just hard to tell. Here are some clues that may help.

Fitness resolutions are just as great because they bring attention to our physical well-being, but they can often become something we do only in January and then forget about. Like most people, sometimes I have trouble maintaining my fitness goals all year, so I'd like to share some tips that help me get back on track. I hope they will work for you too!

We can no longer hope to maintain separate online and offline personalities. Just look at the number of celebrities whose private lives are being made public and having adverse effects on their careers! I think you need to apply the same due diligence to curating your online content as you do your appearance, relationships or profession.

It's New Year's resolution time again! I love this time of year because reflecting on where I've come from and where I'm going is a great way for me to stay on track as I work towards my goals. Whenever I make my resolutions, I always go back to the previous year's list and see which ones I accomplished and which ones fell through the cracks.

Around the holidays we hear all about spending time with loved ones, being grateful and showing them how much we care. A lot of our thoughts will be about our family and friends. But lately social media has changed our perception of friendship, how we view it, how we behave towards our friends, even how we use the word "friend."

There's a lot of talk in the media lately about "conscious uncoupling" but what about conscious coupling? How can you be a couple and still maintain your sense of self? What should you do and what should you look for when coupling up?

We all make choices in our lives every day -- some big, some small. We need to decide where to live, who to date, what job to take, how to brand ourselves...and we often base these decisions on short-term gratifications like what makes us happy for the moment, what seems more exciting or what is most profitable at the time. But I believe the key to success is focusing on long-term LIFE goals instead.

David Letterman recently hosted Parks and Recreation actor Aziz Ansari on his show who beautifully summed up what it means to be a feminist. I think even those Hollywood girls who won't call themselves a feminist will agree with this analogy: "You're a feminist if you go to a Jay Z and Beyoncé concert and you're not like, 'I feel like Beyoncé should get 23 per cent less money than Jay Z. Also I don't think Beyoncé should have the right to vote and why is Beyoncé singing and dancing -- shouldn't she make Jay a steak?"
