He graduated from the University of Victoria in 2006 with a degree in human geography, focusing on third world development and environmental studies.

He moved to Taiwan as a way of combining a love for travel with a means of support. He taught English in a small private school, and realized that teaching was something he really loved and wanted to do as a career. After almost five years in Taiwan, he moved home. Harrington graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree from SFU in 2012, and shortly after landed a job with the Surrey School District.
