Democratic elections by provinces of their future senators would change the focus of its members away from the two-party system that the Senate was not intended to be. For the first time since confederation, our current prime minister is trying to do just this.
Sen. Bert Brown
Bert Brown is a retired farmer from Kathryn Alberta. He has championed Senate reform for over 28 years and now sits as Canada's only elected Senator. He has chaired the Canadian Committee for a Triple-E Senate since 1983 and was elected by the people of Alberta twice, in 1998 and 2004. He was appointed by Prime Minister Stephen Harper in 2007.
