Sexual Health Centre for Cumberland County

Non-profit, charitable organization that promotes sexual health

The Sexual Health Centre for Cumberland County educates, facilitates, and collaborates on strategies to improve sexual health for people of all ages across Cumberland County (Advocate Harbour, Amherst, Joggins, Oxford, Parrsboro, Pugwash, River Hebert, Springhill, Wentworth and surrounding areas). We are currently in our 36th year of service to our county.

We provide pregnancy testing, safer sex supplies (free condoms and lube), educational programs, summer programs for youth, community lectures, and an award winning school based education program to grade 6 students. Each year we provide outreach and support to hundreds of people while collaborating with community partners on important initiatives to advance human rights, health and safety.

Through the work of the Sexual Health Centre for Cumberland County, communities receive support on all aspects of sexual and reproductive health, including issues of sexuality such as gender and orientation. All of the work done by the centre and our partners across the province reflects a sex-positive, pro-choice, youth-positive, LGBTQA2S* friendly approach. Everyone who walks into our centre finds a space that respects individual choice.
