Sonia Hong is a Toronto-based filmmaker whose creative projects are often quirky, visually stimulating and explores various elements of gender identity and empowerment. For her work on “EmBodying Toronto” she was awarded the “WIFT-T's Most innovative Film by a Female Director” and “Toronto Urban Film Festival's Grand Jury Prize (First Place 2009)”. In 2011, she was awarded the “Best Up-and-Coming Toronto Film or Video Maker" by the Inside Out LGBT Film Festival Jury for, ”A Dragged Out Affair” – a quirky musical short which challenged the gender paradigms within the Drag community.
