Managing Partner, Ottawa Media Group

Kimothy Walker is an award-winning Canadian journalist who capped off a 25-year career with CTV in March 2014 by reporting from Africa for the acclaimed show, W5.

Kimothy left CTV to launch Ottawa Media Group as the managing partner with her long-time business/philanthropy associate, Eric Collard.

She possesses a rare blend of media expertise and business acumen while having a vast contact list. For more than three years, Kimothy has also worked with an international television production company to showcase its Ottawa technology to tens of thousands of customers around the world. Ross Video is now the world leader.

That business acumen was recognized when she was named the 2013 Ottawa Professional Business Woman of the Year, for making her newscast one of the most successful local weekend newscasts in a generation. It came the same year she was surprised with the United Way Community Builder Award on live television, and after receiving the Queen’s Jubilee Medal, the Ottawa Business Journal’s “Forty under 40," Ontario Leading Women Award and Y “Woman of Distinction."

She continues her work with the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, and helps organize the CTV Amazing People Gala to raise money for her other charities, SchoolBox and Hera Mission. To date, Kimothy, Eric and their amazing committee have raised more than $150,000 to sponsor Ottawa young people to build schools in developing nations.

After mentoring more than 50 young journalists with the CTV Apprenticeship Program, she has also begun guest lecturing at the Carleton University School of Journalism, where she graduated in 1991.

Kimothy lives in downtown Ottawa with her husband, a Canadian business leader, and their two daughters. She can often be seen on her bike or scooter around town. She embraces all new adventures, but says she will never again drive an RV over the top of the Swiss Alps but she would swim with sharks one more time.
