Sport and recreation is something we're all exposed to -- from gym class as children, to swim class as seniors -- sport has the potential to lift people up and bring us together. But for many, recreational sport can also be the first time they experience exclusion and discrimination.
Kristina Flynn manages The 519’s expansion project – The Rec Centre – a proposed 150,000-200,000 sq. ft., $100 million dollar facility that will act as the world’s first sport and recreation facility focused on sport inclusion. Prior to joining The 519, she worked as Manager, Community & Player Engagement for Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd., leading all community and corporate responsibility programs, as well as team and personal charitable initiatives of the Raptors and Toronto FC players, coaches and management.
