Black Pig Bistro

  • Address - 825 1st Avenue NE

You could say that the Black Pig Bistro is one of the most anticipated new Calgary restaurants in 2014, especially when you consider their pledge to deliver top-quality food with tastes influenced by Spanish, French and Italian cuisines all for a moderate price. Making it happen is Alison Beiber, a former Cucina chef who will be looking to make the 50-seater Black Pig Bistro one of the hottest eateries in Bridgeland and in Calgary as a whole.

Bocce Pizzeria & Bar

  • Address - 2207 4th Street SW

Keep your eyes open for Bocce, a new pizzeria and bar on 4th Street in Mission by the head honchos of Mercato. If Bocce's quality of food, atmosphere and service is anything like Mercato's, and it surely will be, then it's safe to say that it will be a go-to place for great food and drink any day of the week.

Double Zero Chinook

  • Address - 6455 Macleod Trail SW

Gourmet pizzas, finger-lickin' tapas and a variety of other Italian fares have made Double Zero Pizza's downtown location one of the top contenders in the area for lunch, dinner and weekend get-togethers. This wonderful restaurant is expanding to Chinook Centre, one of Calgary's busiest and most highly regarded shopping malls with a "primo" double-floor location on the north end. Get all your original favourites from Double Zero Chinook either in the market-style main floor or perhaps sitting in a comfortable booth upstairs where the traditional restaurant and patio are located. Now we can enjoy all the deliciousness of Double Zero without heading to the downtown core... and in between shopping or perhaps before / after a movie. Awesome, isn't it?

Goro & Gun

  • Address - Scotia Centre - 225 7th Avenue SW

The bottom level of West Restaurant & Bar is now being transformed into Goro & Gun, a Japanese barbecue, ramen noodle and sushi bar with food that will make your mouth water. In charge of the kitchen is Tumo Mitsumo, a talented chef formerly of Ubu. Needless to say, we have much to look forward to at Goro & Gun!

National West Hills

  • Address - 180 Steward Green SW

No longer do the denizens of the deep southwest have to drive downtown for great eats, even better drinks and a ton of fun at National's beltline locations. Why? National West Hills has just recently opened its doors with all the originals that have made this establishment one of the best beer halls / pubs / eateries / nightlife venues in Calgary.

Native Tongues Taqueira

  • Address - 239 12th Avenue SW

Modern-day hipsters and foodies alike will appreciate this unique new restaurant coming soon to Calgary. Why do we say this? See for yourself the three words that this restaurant has used to describe itself: tacos, bourbon and hip-hop - sound cool or what!? In short, get all the tasty bourbon, gourmet tacos and live entertainment in the form of Mexican wrestling that you can handle at Native Tongues Taqueira. What an interesting evening all this would make now wouldn't it?

Rodney's Oyster House

  • Address - 355 10th Avenue SW

If you have not heard of this reputed Toronto Oyster Bar already, then let me tell you, especially if you are a seafood lover, that there is much to look forward to! Expect no less than extravagant seafood dishes from Rodney's Oyster House as well as an oyster bar, private dining rooms and catering services at their new 300 seat "Atlantic" themed venue on the corner of 10th Avenue and 4th Street SW, also known as the old Tantra/Mansion nightclub.
