How To Clean A Reusable Coffee Filter

If you have a single-brew coffee machine, you most likely have purchased a reusable "K-cup"-style filter system. While these products will save you from purchasing often-expensive single-serve coffee cups or pods, they can be tricky to clean. For one, the oils tend to create a buildup in the filter. Luckily, we've got a tip to remove that buildup and perk up your mornings.

First, empty the coffee grounds into the garbage or, as our trusty readers have suggested, scatter coffee grounds in your garden for a slow-release of nitrogen. Then, run the filter under water to remove excess grounds. Next, place the filter in a bowl filled with two parts water to one part white vinegar . Allow the filter to sit in the solution for 30 minutes. After, remove the filter and run it under warm water. Finally, allow the filter to air dry and in no time you'll be able to make a piping hot cup of coffee!
