As if we werenβt already on the edge of our seats waiting for βBlack Pantherβ to hit theaters, Marvel just gave us another reason to be hype for the film. Kendrick Lamar and label executive Anthony βTop Dawgβ Tiffith are curating and producing the filmβs soundtrack.
βBlack Panther: The Albumβ will feature music from and inspired by Ryan Cooglerβs highly anticipated film, Interscope Records announced on Thursday. This is the first time Marvel has integrated multiple original songs created specifically for a movie, according to the press release.
βI am honored to be working with such an incredible artist whose work has been so inspirational, and whose artistic themes align with those we explore in the film. I canβt wait for the world to hear what Kendrick and [record label Top Dawg Entertainment] have in store,β Coogler said in a statement.
The director hand-picked the βDAMN.β artist β who appeared on one of the variant covers for Forbesβ most recent β30 Under 30β issue β for this collaboration.
βMarvel Studiosβ βBlack Pantherβ is amazing, from its cast to its director,β Lamar said in the press release. βThe magnitude of this film showcases a great marriage of art and culture. Iβm truly honored to contribute my knowledge of producing sound and writing music alongside Ryan and Marvelβs vision.β
βAll the Stars,β which features SZA, is the first track off of the album.
βBlack Panther,β the 18th movie in Marvelβs sprawling film franchise, features an all-star black cast, including Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Angela Bassett, Lupita Nyongβo and Danai Gurira, among others.
The movie hits theaters on Feb. 16, which clearly isnβt soon enough. Weβll be bopping along to βAll the Starsβ until then.
