The Weeknd is stepping up his support for the Black Lives Movement through his latest donation.

According to the Associated Press, the Grammy Award winner announced Wednesday he is pledging $250,000 to the Black Lives Matter movement.

Last month via Twitter, the crooner expressed his support to the social justice organization following the fatal police shootings of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling.

The Toronto-native joins hundreds of celebrities who responded to the police shootings, including fellow Canadian artist, Drake.

“This is real and I’m concerned. Concerned for the safety of my family, my friends, and any human being that could fall victim to this pattern,” Drake wrote in an Instagram post. “I do not know the answer. But I believe things can change for the better. Open and honest dialogue is the first step.”

The Weeknd’s benevolent gesture follows his reported $50,000 donation to University of Toronto in an effort to help the school develop an Ethiopic Studies program.
