You know you're a resident of Southern Alberta when a tourist asks you what kind of bird (Magpie) is squawking in the tree, and you reply "Oh ... You mean the LOUD rat with wings?"

You know you're a resident of Southern Alberta when a tourist asks you what kind of bird (Magpie) is squawking in the tree, and you reply "Oh ... You mean the LOUD rat with wings?"

I will concede that Magpies are a pretty bird. But they, without a doubt, have the most annoying chirp.

Spending their days ridding the city of dropped french-fries, they are brazen, vicious little birds whose survival depends on opportunity and the ability to fly.

Should the Alberta Government ever make them legal to shoot, you'll have a tough time beating me to the counter to get some tags.
