If you're a smoker and aren't yet thinking about quitting, congratulations -- today is your day.

For the past 24 years, the World Health Organization (WHO) has celebrated World No Tobacco Day on May 31 as a way to combat smoking and its associated practices.

The theme for this year's day is "tobacco industry interference" -- but we think a focus on how to quit smoking is always in order. In a recent study by Public Health Ontario, smoking was found to be the number behavioural risk impacting life expectancy, and health problems from smoking can include anything from infertility to many different forms of cancer.

The video above lays out some concrete rules to follow when it comes to stopping for good. It is that simple to just decide to do it? Of course not -- most people fail to quit on their first try -- but there's only one place to start.
