How To Clean Your Grill Using Household Items

Here we are, in the midst of what's known by meat lovers (and some intrepid vegetarians) as grilling season, it's inevitable your chosen cooking surface will get a little, well, gross.

Though some experts swear by the charred taste produced by remnants from the last meal, most will recommend cleaning your grill after each use to ensure the best possible quality for your food. In the video above, we're shown an extensive method that cover everything from the grate to the grease pan. Just be careful with that grill brush, as the CDC recently reported an uptick in people showing wire bristles in their abdomens in X-rays, likely ingested through food cooked on a grill.

Aluminium is one alternative to try out, by rolling a sheet of foil into a ball and using the edges to take off any food on the grill. Other choices expounded by those in the know include an onion (or potato, or even corn -- the heat of the grill helps remove the crust) or a household steamer (which can also help remove bacteria).

However you do it, just make sure it's done -- a clean grill not only helps make food healthier, it ensures it will also be cooked according to your specifications.
