Team Canada breathed a sigh of relief after Day 1's disappointments. The duo of Emilie Heymans and Jennifer Abel nabbed a Bronze, Canada's first medal of the Games.
The medal put Heymans into the Olympic record books in another way, becoming the first female diver to medal in four consecutive Olympics.
Canada's Women's rowing team fared better than their male counterparts. The Women's Eight will face off against the U.S. in the final of that event.
Other highlights included Dutch cyclist Marianne Vos winning gold in the women's road race. The South Korean women's archery team also narrowly beat out rivals China for their seventh consecutive Olympic gold medal.
The U.S. women's gymnastic team suffered a setback when defending world champion and medal favourite Jordyn Wieber was knocked out of contention in the All-Around competition.
