Day 3 marked a day of success for a number of Team Canada's athletes, despite remaining stagnant in the medal count.
After Sunday's rain delay, Canadian tennis players Aleksandra Wozniak and Milos Raonic both took to court to make their debut. The two delivered wins in their respective singles matches and will advance to the next round.
Meanwhile, Team Canada's men's eight rowing crew will be joining their female counterparts in the finals after placing second in their repechage. On the other hand, Canada's men's beach volleyball didn't fare as well, dropping both of their matches to host country, Britain.
Canada's Olympic hopes also took a hit after rider Hawley Bennett-Awad was hospitalized after she fell off her horse, Gin And Juice during Monday's equestrian eventing.
Another notable event was a minor dispute in men's artistic gymnastics after Japan filed an inquiry into the score of three-time world champion Kohei Uchimura on pommel horse. The judges revised the decision after five minutes of deliberations, bumping Japan up to second place and costing Great Britain a silver medal finish. The crowd jeered at the results, despite the team taking the bronze medal. Meanwhile, China placed first in the event.
Also making headlines was Swiss soccer player Michel Morganella after he tweeted racial slurs directed at the South Korean soccer team. Morganella has since been booted from the Olympics, joining Greece's Voula Papachristou after she tweeted racial remarks about African immigrants.
