It's the ultimate in life challenges: Facing each day as a left-handed person when the majority of the world gets to use their right. But on August 13th, that takes a backseat as leftys celebrate Left-Handers Day, an "annual celebration of left-handers' superiority," according to the creators.

Started in 1992 by the Left-Handers Club, which promotes research and development of new left-handed items, the day encourages those who are left-handed to designate 'Lefty Only Zones' and encourage people who are right-handed to try out life on other side.

But it's not all putting belts on backwards and smudging ink as you write in notebooks — there are serious advantages for the seven to 10 per cent of the population who are left-handed. To celebrate today's holiday — and perhaps make right-handed people a little jealous — we'd like to call those out for this special day.
