India's Lakme Fashion Week: Top Trends, Looks For Winter/Festive 2012

Colour And Texture Define India's 2012 Lakme Fashion Week

As we prepare to bring you full coverage of spring 2013 fashion weeks from around the globe -- New York! London! Toronto! -- we thought we'd take a look at some of the creations designers in India showcased at the recently wrapped Lakmé Fashion Week for winter/festive 2012.

Held in Mumbai, this year's event featured a wide range of styles that combined pattern and texture with big pops of colour. The garments have an optimistic air to them, all complementing the celebratory nature of Diwali, a major holiday Hindus celebrate in November. Some 80 designers showed during the week-long event, and many a Bollywood star sat front row.

What were some of the key trends that showed up on the runways? Structured tailoring, colour blocking, layering, jumpsuits, maxi dresses and incredible accessories.

Check out some looks from Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012.
