A woman who dropped some money at a McDonald's drive thru in Courtenay, B.C. over the weekend suffered serious injuries when she tried to retrieve it.
The woman, who was driving a van, opened her door to pick up the money from the ground, said Comox Valley RCMP in a news release on Tuesday. But her foot released from the brake, sending her van forward, pinning the woman between the wall and the vehicle's door.
The van also rear-ended another vehicle in the drive thru, said police.
The 33-year-old woman from Courtenay was taken to a Comox hospital and then airlifted to another centre to be treated for head and chest injuries.
"The Comox Valley RCMP are reminding drivers to be cautious at all times when operating a vehicle. Placing your vehicle in park when taking part in possibly distracting activities is highly recommended," said Const. Nicole Hall.
