The New York Times has named an "underrated" ski resort as one of its places to travel in 2013.

RED Mountain Resort in Rossland, B.C. was ranked eighth among the newspaper's "46 Places to Go," ahead of destinations such as New Delhi and Singapore.

RED Mountain is undergoing the "largest terrain expansion in North American skiing," the article says. It is also getting a new ski lift and hotel.

"With a new lodge and the first on-hill accommodations added in the last few years, this local legend is ready to step out into the spotlight," writer Christopher Solomon said.

RED Mountain CEO Howard Katkov called it a "special honour" to be named among the top 10 places to see in the world, said a Monday news release.
