Anyone who loves garlic bread or pesto knows the trade-off is the foul taste that follows, even hours after eating your meal. But why exactly is garlic so bad?

One report showed when we eat garlic, we produce several sulfur-containing gases, according to experts at the University of Minnesota. "It's coming from the [gut], not from the mouth, and that is what gives you the odor that you have after you eat garlic," the researchers said.
