Edmonton's Pride Parade on Saturday kicked off a week of celebrations in the city.

Organized by the Edmonton Pride Festival Society, the festival celebrates the diversity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified, and queer community.

Over 75 colourful floats made their way down 107 Street and 102 Avenue to Churchill Square for a celebration.

Edmonton Mayor Stephen Mandel attended the event along with council colleagues.

"The Square is full of bright, fabulous people!" he said on Twitter.

Over 30,000 people attended the event, the Edmonton Journal reports, and many took to Twitter to share their support.
